buttercup

Our winter here in Memphis has been so mild this year, and our daffodils were tricked and came up very early!  I snatched some out of the yard over the weekend and we are enjoying these happy little flowers inside.

We don't necessarily love the placement of these little guys in our yard, but I do love seeing them pop up every year.  There are a lot of them in the back yard... but they do make me smile.

I know I posted about some busy season projects I was going to embark on this year, but somehow it's already the end of February and I haven't started on any of the ones I posted... I did, however, make this new fun shower curtain for our little bathroom.  It's much more fun and the old one just needed to be replaced.

I also re-painted our back door and carport door one day last week.  I was sitting on the couch doing some work with the back door open and thinking how the color of it was pretty terrible... then remembered we had some leftover sample cans of the paint we used to pick a shutter color.  They look new again!

Maybe this weekend I can get T to help me plan out the laundry closet so I can paint all that will go in there... we will see!

I hope everyone else is enjoying their buttercups, too, and savoring every moment of the day.  It's pretty sweet, this life, and I am just the happiest girl.  Look at our handsome little dog-child!

every day is heart day

Around here, we don't do anything fancy or special on valentine's day, although I did wake up to this cute breakfast treat the other day.  Thanks, valentine!

We usually just enjoy cooking at home together and get each other a card because we don't need a special day to show each other love.  We love each other every day, duh!

My other little valentine is pretty darn cute.  Always protects me and keeps me company.

for a good laugh

T-man has recently downloaded an app.  It is used constantly.  It makes you look "old" and last night he did the two of us.

For a good Friday laugh... True love.

fontina dip & bread (but not together)

Back in December during the holidays, I found this dip via Pinterest (where everything comes from these days) that looked sinful.  We were headed to a Christmas party and need to bring an appetizer, so this was the perfect occasion for this dip.  Fontina dip.

T headed to the grocery for me for the supplies. 1.5 lb fontina cheese and the herbs is all we needed.  I get a call from him a few minutes later saying this dip would be VERY expensive (who knew fontina was so pricey? not I), so he was just going to get a pound of it (and it would still be pretty expensive).  But boy was this the best cheese dip/appetizer thing ever.  Recipe from here.  We made it again last night for our super bowl feast. Yum!

Pre broil....

Post broil... YUM.

Friday I also had my first adventure at homemade bread.  I used my stand mixer with dough hook, and it look quite a bit longer than this recipe said for it to form a ball.  I wasn't discouraged though and just continued the recipe and it turned out very very delicious.

And for some cheesy February cheer, I hung these little hearts on the mantle yesterday!

fabruary

Normally February is so blah, but with the weather we've had in Mempho lately, it might just be great!  It feels like spring outside and the daffodils are tricked and already blooming in my backyard.

I need to start on my projects this month... been putting them off for a few weeks because T hasn't been swamped just yet.

We do have a new faucet on the sink in the kitchen (been wanting to switch out since we moved in) thanks to Gary Lemmons.  Love it and love that it's clean.

How cute is this little girl in her tiny toms and jeggings?  She's a sweet little niece, that Juliette.

Laura (over in Italy) asked if she could do a monthly desktop, so shout out to her for such a cute February!  I loved that little girl she painted, and she jazzed up the colors for the desktop!  Thanks fren!
